Crews respond to third fire in 5 days in Hartford; building collapses

Crews battled an apartment fire in Hartford late Thursday night into Friday morning.

Hartford only has a population of 120k (most people live in the surrounding towns) and the housing stock in the City is largely old and decrepit. So no wonder there has been so much activity of late - it doesn't take much to get these buildings going, particularly abandoned ones like where last night's fire started.

Hartford, Ct Engine 8 struck a 2nd alarm on arrival for 2 buildings on fire at 225 Ward St. Companies had heavy fire showing with the main fire building having a collapse within 15 minutes of arrival.
