So I saw an article describing this new operation dubbed Lithium Battery Task Force

Using Fire Prevention and Fire Investigations Unit personnel

Is this on addition to there normal duties or is this group or more of 4 that cover the whole city?

I'm curious about this considering how many fires y'all have involving batteries

Any more information would be an interesting read

Thanks

Can you link the article? First I'm hearing regarding a lithium battery task force.

Brother and Sisters, the Underwriter's Labatory "U.L." just finished tests on Lithium Batteries, at their Reseach Facility locate near the Philadelphia Airport. The research report by U.L. has not yet been published as far as I know. I was doing research online on this problem online and disclosed was a study done By Dr Wu of the University of the Western Pacific. He found that when Lithium Batteries are over changed, too rapidly recharged OR Chronically Under Charged, "Dendrites" can form on the positive and negative side of the Battery and the Dendrites grow toward each other. When the dendrites grow, toward each other, they can penetrate the insulation causing the Battery to short and spontaneously ignite into perhaps a runaway failure involving multiple cells within the Lithium Battery. Lithium IS WATER Reactive one of the reasons it is so hard to extinguish when it does ignite. This to say the least is a serious problem. I just heard today the M.T.A, Metro North is going to start using Battery Power to power commuter trains. What will they come up with next?
