In the FDNY if a mayday gets called does the alarm get upgraded? With the Chicago fire department it does, for example if a mayday gets called at a working fire response the alarm is up graded to a still and box. If it's at a still and box the alarm is upgraded to a 2-11.

If I can grasp your chicago example with the still & box being the "first alarm" fire and the 2-11 a "2nd alarm", then yes. The 10-66 is an automatic transmission of the above alarm which is how the "recent" 6th Alarm in Manhattan came to be.

For Chicago the still is the initial call for a fire, if it turns out to be a fire then a working fire or working still response is dispatched. The next alarm level is the still and box, after the still and box is a 2-11,then 3-11,4-11,and 5-11. This site five a good explanation about CFD alarm levels and responses https://www.metrochicagofire.com/lingo.htm

Probably wrong here, but I think the FDNY equiv of the CFD Still Alarm and Still and Box would be the 10-75 and All Hands respectively.
