First Female EMS Chief promoted to Assistant Chief

Kathleen Knuth is the first female to be promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief and will oversee EMS Administrative Operations as one of only two EMS Assistant Chiefs. She most recently served as the Deputy Assistant Chief of EMS Operations South, and before that was the Division Commander of EMS Division 1. She has served the department for 22 Years, being promoted to Deputy Assistant Chief in 2025.

Taking her place in EMS South Operations is Deputy Assistant Chief Tonya Boyd, who most recently oversaw EMS Training Operations. Assistant Chief Escobar who oversaw EMS Administration will now oversee EMS Field Services.
