NYC EMS workers will soon make less than food delivery drivers

That's a very lofty statement. They're good, but it would be a heavy lift to say the least. No voluntaries would involve an innovative way of doing business that would look nothing like how things are done now. The talent to devise a workable plan exists within the FDNY. Question is will those...

Charts - Growing Impact of FDNY CFR Runs on Engine Companies

FAD input would be great, I was just posting the 10-53 and 10-54 PD codes with the sub codes for context. The sub code in the form of the letters following the numerical code appears to drive the some of the CFR-D response.

Charts - Growing Impact of FDNY CFR Runs on Engine Companies

    Should be reasonably accurate: 10-53 Vehicle Accident [D-Dispute, H-Hit by Auto, I-Injury, P-Property only, Q-Other, X-Person Pinned] 10-54 Ambulance Case [B-Burn, C-Cardiac, D4-Drowning/Water Rescue, E-EDP, H-Heavy Bleeder, I-Minor Injury, L-Severed Limb...

Charts - Growing Impact of FDNY CFR Runs on Engine Companies

While no approach is fool proof and some of this might already be getting looked at, The following is food for thought: As Lebby mentioned, an in-depth review of how the call to 911 is processed and call typed is a good place to start. Are the right questions being asked ? How does the...

RET EMS PARAMEDIC PAUL DANIELS...STA.16...WTC RELATED.

Paul was a great guy, A soft spoken gentleman who was a little older than me when we worked together in The Bronx which was good because the age difference sort of balanced us out as partners. Paul had life experience that I didn't and I had lot's of Bronx experience that he didn't have. One...

    EMT Sergeant

Im trying to understand how you can give the same civil service test for two separate civil service titles with different job responsibilities. Are you suggesting the titles would be broad banded similar to what is done now with SEMSS 1 (Lieutenant) and SEMSS 2 (Captain) adding the Seargent...

    EMT Sergeant

Many questions with this one ...Seems like this would be departing from what is an industry standard in this country. Why would you want to reduce the level of education for supervision ? If I remember correctly the job required the medic cert to promote starting in 2009 specifically to have a...

Enables them to operate in a contaminated atmosphere or traverse a contaminated area to get to an uncontaminated area of safe refuge and address the medical needs of members or civilians. They don't travel independent of a fire company at the scene of an incident. If memory serves they are...

6/28/22 Bronx Technical Rescue Box 8855

Prisoners no longer bury the dead on Hart Island. OCME still delivers bodies several times a week. The city under DeBlasio early in covid hired a private company to do burials. Its actually quite organized. Hart Island had an actual fire house on its south end. It was pretty much an unheated...

You are correct that units have been moved around both voluntary hospital and FDNY units. Many reasons why that happens but mainly operational needs are the driving force behind those moves. I have also heard that the COD is riding the bus to gain insight. Total Respect for the man.

    NY Daily News Today-9/23/21

Number 1 above is an inaccurate statement. There is no bidding process. As I recall if a hospital wants to participate in the 911 system they contact the FDNY who does an analysis to determine areas of need. If the area of need as identified by the FDNY is agreeable to the hospital asking to...

Heres a different take on things .... Change takes time, Its been 25 years but in the grand scheme of things its a drop in the bucket. Growing pains during and after the merger, yes they existed. Growing pains always exist with change. Some people could not manage the change and they left...

7-8-21...ENG*43 DRAFTS ON THE FLOODED HIGHWAY.

Thanks, I figured it would be extremely rare on a regular Engine. The last time I actually saw one in "action" was when I was a kid watching 70 & 53 getting water out of their cellar. It seemed to work well.
