The City was considering renumbering all the Squads (i.e. 1, 2, 3, etc.), so when 154 was reorganized as a Squad, it was designated Squad 8.
The renumbering plan never came to be.

Re-establish E-261, E-212 and E-209. New BC on Staten Island. New Ladder in E-168 and new Engine and Ladder in Starrett City. Re-establish E-154 as an engine and maintain SQ-8.
Okay. All I was saying was that Capt. Hatton was working with Saulsbury to design the Rescue Box regardless of who fabricated the cab and chassis. The cab and chassis could have been made by anyone as it had been in the past.
