The mechanics/fleet personnel respond with a fuel truck. You may see a guy in a video fueling up the apparatus. You may also catch one looking at the engines/ladders to see how they are performing and may tweak something. But no fire operations or command positions.
Here is a little discrepancy, which isn’t a big deal. FDNY always sends the same assignment (not including special calls) to all fires. A second alarm will get the same response citywide. Example: You’ll always end up with 1 division chief and 5 battalion chief on a 2nd alarm. As far as I know...
Excellent rundown! I went onto Google maps and that was one big building. I wasn’t sure what exposure 1 was with a 2 story parking structure below. It became evident from the street view. Exposure 2 and 4 sides with limited access. Tough access overall. They had to work on that fire for quite...
I did some quick math. These five cities have a total population of approximately 210,000 people in approximately 10 square miles! I’m sure they get their share of work!
I looked up IMTT Fire Department. Huge oil refinery. They have quite a bit of apparatus. Does anyone know what their shift manning is? I’m guessing 10 to 12.
Both great rundowns and a great video, thanks, Skyler Fire,
I’m not from that area. Can you please add a key as to what cities each abbreviation stands for? I can piece most together, but some I’m not. Example NH?
I venture to say most all-volunteer departments in the country fall into the demographics below:
Population 20,000 or less
Stations 1 to 3
Calls 750 or less per year
With that being said, here is what I would concentrate on:
No EMS - PD runs first response, private ambulance or town/city...
That’s the way I read it. So they’d be sending an additional 4E & 2L. Everything else from a second alarm has been call for or will be called for on the 10-60 - Code 1.
So would the 10-60 - Code 1 really be getting 9 Engines & 5 Ladders?
The second sentence (in bold) on the 10-60 - Code 1 confuses me. I’m not sure how to interpret it:
10-60 Code 1 Major Emergency Response - Enhanced 2nd Alarm - 10-60 assignment plus:
2nd Alarm if not transmitted prior to the 10-60 Code 1
I laughed when I saw this 😂!
I did see the tornado and I recognized the name immediately. I hope no deaths, minimal injuries & they can all get back on their feet soon.
Someone, please explain this, as I must be missing something. How can they only have had a $96,000 budget? With the number of guys in the picture, they would only be making $4,000 a piece. What am I missing?
