I always thought 286/135 had 3rd or 4th due boxes in Highland Park. As a kid in the 80's I remember them consistently running up 66th street to Cooper and then over the Cypress Hills St hill and into Brooklyn.
With St. Vinny's and Cabrini both gone I can't believe they would even consider closing Beth Israel. I understand it comes down to money, but at some point the closure of hospitals has to come down to a public health emergency.
I remember this fire. I was around 14 years old and my dad took me for a ride to check it out. I remember the super pumper being there but not in operation.
Seems odd that neither 146 or 128 took the front of the building. Doesn't look like wires out front. Not knocking anyone, just wondering if there was a reason not to set up out front.
Will the reduction in staffing per apparatus effect their participation in the mutual aid system? Most metro mutual aid systems have a minimum staffing per apparatus to allow departments to be in the plan.
Thanks AuxCap, hope all is well and you're enjoying Florida. Seems with the move of 287/136 they'd be closer to this box near Yellowstone and QB and further from 319's area. Did their boxes change with the move?
While it's only 2.5 blocks from E9/L6 that's a tough run for them. If they don't go against traffic on that short block of Canal where the Manhattan bridge dumps off, they have to go around the park. Navigating that area during the day can be quite a challenge.
