Forest Park had some smaller fires recently. Hopefully there won't be any others, although we're not expecting rain for another week now. So many parks in Queens that are bone dry.
Wow! That must have been fun! He retired from 252 in 1978, shortly after being hurt in a 3 alarm fire. I was listening to the fire, but didn't know he was on duty at the time, or what company the reported injured member was from.
There actually is an entrance to the LIE right about where this occurred, a short distance east of Springfield. There'd be no way for dispatchers to know the exact location of the incident until the companies respond. I was outdoors about a half mile north of this and heard a helicopter hovering...
This morning there was a box out in Little Neck and a box came in for the LIJ hospital facility. Until 313 & 164 became available, 320 & 167 were assigned, which is a hell of a long distance run.
