So what is the FDNY still have high pressure pumpers ? Are the 2000 GPM fire engines only rated at two stages ? And then I believe from what I know is that the high-pressure buffers are three stages ? Can someone verified and explain the difference please thank you

    Fire Fighter boots

My nephew had a question recently about adequate protection of the boots that firefighters wear He recently saw some firefighters at a station walking around in shorts and flip-flops A call came in and he saw him just jump into their boots. Pull their pants up and takeoff. So the question is...

    SUPER PUMPER 1

To really put that thing to the test you Gotta do a long stretch test put it in the middle of Staten Island or near one of the airports where it’s probably actually going to be used and then see what the drafting rate and pump rate is and where are they going to get their water source Then how...

    DEMOTIONS & REASSIGNMENTS.

They mentioned that this would be affecting the three alarm chiefs. Is there a separate forum that discusses the roles and responsibility of a third alarm chief? And what chiefs would respond to a third alarm and what’s the position? Thanks.

That’s right I forgot about the high-rise units possibly getting a pump added to their unit for fire fighting capabilities and foam capabilities is there any update to this project

Whatever happened to that foam tender are they gonna replace it too that could be a good second piece for the new high-volume pumper that they have or sp as the call it

    SUPER PUMPER 1

Mr. bulldog it’s not the fact that they need a tender per se as in a satellite unit but as in to carry all the extra hoses and pumps and boosters etc. that they will need when they don’t have a fire boat at their disposal and even when they have the fire boat there’s still a lot that needs to be...

At what psi is the boat supplying the pumper

    SUPER PUMPER 1

Never ending supply of water with that fire boat but I know with most big refinery fires where this thing is most likely going to be used there’s not a lot of water resources so they’re gonna have to have a pretty good relay system going to a nearby water supply

    Squad Support Truck

I’m just saying since most of the stuff is already duplicated on other apparatus like the rescue trucks then something of this type can be implemented.

    Squad Support Truck

Don’t they act like a scene support unit as well with lights unless there’s another type of unit that does that I wasn’t sure if there was an illumination unit But that was a good history lesson searchlights were something ice always has a kid in the early 80s were there they were used to help...

    Squad Support Truck

Since there are only two of them I wouldn’t mind seeing both of them upgraded to a full-size rotator type unit similar to what LAFD has and LA County has that way FDNY has two large basically cranes available to them to help with overtime vehicles and other types of heavy rescues, and that way...

    Squad Support Truck

So if the rescue companies have basically everything that is carried on a Tac unit, then it’s redundant to have the Tac units, unless other units use them for something else. I do see that they respond to second alarms what would be their function at something like this?
