Brooklyn,NY Shootout In Front Of E-283's Quarters 11/14/2022

Well the citizens of New York spoke in the election and they are happy with the present administration. They want the wild west to continue. Back in the 70's thank goodness they only threw bottles and bricks at us. Not to mention the sabotaged vacant buildings.

FDNY LODD FF EMANUEL ADLER E 309 11/16/1952

When I was assigned 233-2 we had a matron named Mrs. Adler. Back then the Matron, just made the beds, was the wife of a FF that died in the line of duty. It was a way for her to earn money. Never knew about her Husband, but this sheds a little lite on it.

    "Lemon" Equipment Assignments

When 176 was organized 11/24/72 we received TCU's rig which was a 69 American LaFrance rear mount. It was a 2 cycle Diesel 5 speed manual trans and was very fast. It kept breaking down and shops had limited supply of parts, Seagrave was dominant rear mount back then, kept rig out of service for...

11/7/2022 Brooklyn All Hands Box 2066

My friend's Dad had the Mobil station on the corner of Glenmore & Linwood back in the 60's. Amazing how fast that neighborhood changed.

    Still No FDNY Commissioner

Unfortunately the standards in The FDNY were lowered 45 years ago. The physical and mental standards were lowered to meet quota's and not to hire the best people for the job. there was never a thought about the legitimate people on the job that had to work with the people that got the job...

    10/21/22 Brooklyn 10-75 Box 1611

1674 is Glenmore & Watkins, 1611 is East New York & St. Marks. Glenmore stops at Rockaway Ave, St. Marks comes into East NY and stops. So it depends on where caller was or what box was pulled. Pretty busy intersection with 3 streets coming in there. I hope this adds to the confusion.

    10/24/22 Queens 10-75 Box 9678

I believe there are a lot of Commercial Buildings on 130 St. between Jamaica Ave. & Atlantic Ave.. There was Schiffman electric, that moved from East New York and Chester with the building collapse in 1970, Marino's Italian ice, a paint brush warehouse and was also the block that had an...

    9/29/22 EMS LT Stabbed

There are no words for a tragedy like this. I hope the people in charge of Justice are proud of their track record. This hit a deeper hurt when her Dad called me to tell me that Lt. Allison Russo was his Daughter. I know the Dad for over 30 years and I remembered he told me she was promoted to...

    9/29/22 EMS LT Stabbed

How can we let this go unpunished? Trying to help a dirt bag, this is the end result. This is what you get for electing the wrong people.

    CHICAGO FF ATTACKED.

The FF should have grabbed the partner saw and revved it up. We always did that for the rings that wouldn't come off. Then used the ring cutter to remove it. A good scare never hurt anyone.

West Chester Township,OH 4 Children Hospitalized After Apartment Fire 9/17/2022

Time to hold the Mom accountable. Sad to hear of Children dying without adult supervision. As a Fire Marshal a lot of times young kids playing with matches was the cause of fires I responded to. And another problem was no working smoke detector, usually it was present less the battery.

    9/13/22 Brooklyn 4th Alarm Box 0820

We used to relocate very often to 112 from the Tinhouse. This 1 day we were there, we responded to a water leak on Cooper Ave. off Central Ave.. We probably spent 15-20 minutes there trying to help the home owner to solve his problem. We told him he had to call Water Dept. to shut down water...

    9/13/22 Brooklyn 4th Alarm Box 0820

As someone that was exposed to a lot of the common cockloft Bushwick fires, I know what it's like to get caught with losing a few buildings at a time. Back in the day we learned to give up the fire building and go to the exposures on both sides, exp. 2 & 4, and maybe even further. The most...

Firefighter movies and others we remember

There could never be a movie to show what it was exactly like living the life of a FF during the war years. Going from fire to fire and not getting back to the Firehouse for several hours. Busy Co.s taking up from one job and going 10-8 to go to the next run or possibly another job. For people...

Firefighter movies and others we remember

After Backdraft came out a few people approached us and said they never knew what we actually did at a fire. So it was also an education for non firefighting people.

9/11 Tribute Museum Closing NYC Location After More Than 15 Years, Going Fully Online

Lee actually started the museum that was next to Ten House Firehouse. I don't know if he was too involved with the national museum. Still this should be a permanent memorial that should be federally funded so every generation knows what happened on 9/11 and how vulnerable we had become to an...

9/11 Tribute Museum Closing NYC Location After More Than 15 Years, Going Fully Online

With all the money this Government is throwing around for useless things, you would think they would fund it to continue operation. I guess the illegals coming here are more important. Who is the govt. working for now? It seems like they have an America last agenda.
