Eh, sort of. Both are really semi-duplex, meaning both rely on repeaters and only one side (the dispatcher) can transmit and receive at the same time. Simplex means both sides can only transmit or receive at one time. The difference between NYPD and FDNY is PD's "mixer" is on all the time...

To answer the original question, no, FireCAD doesn't print anything about "Loading up the box". MDTs in the rigs still look the same. Screens for the dispatchers are much different than the StarFire years (and arguably nicer) but no "load box" button or text other than the T-30 on the SEP...
I have a whole bunch of these wonderful gems on VHS somewhere. The radio traffic recreation was terrific - at 5:37, he actually says "boooooop" as the alert tone.
