This fir happened on my second day in Ma.  I was up there for training for a new job I got.  I was staying in Leominister  just off Route 2.  I drove up tp the Boston area when I saw the news covrage but couldn't get close to the area by car so I parked and hoofed it as close as I could get. ...

    Ward LaFrance rigs

The thing I rmember most of the older Wards was if the vacuum switch for the clutch didn't work it was a heck of a long leg stretch to hold the clutch in and reach the road / pump handle on the pump panel.  Other then that these rigs could take a beating.

These look a lot like the rig that 94 engine had when they had that fire in their quarters.  I believe it was totaled at that time.

    DEC. 7 NEVER FORGET !

Every year I try and refresh my memory and find different facts that we were never taught in school.  Once again I found a little tidbit of information that is seldome if ever mentioned.  Among the dead were Honolulu Firefighters Captain John Carreira, Captain Thomas S. A LOOK BACK.

There are a good number of planes shown in the post, and I would say, if allowed, there are  several historic planes that would appear on my bucket list, if I found possible to do so.  Talk about great designs, field modifications and just the beauty of these birds in flight.

    Volly companies in NYC

At no time to my knowledge has any of the Volunteer companies within the city ever tried to replace any of the paid services.  On Staten Island both of the volunteer companies are dispatched by the city and although not dispatched directly by the city I am aware of at least 2 other volunteer...

    Aviation 3 is reopening ???

The old house was located at 1820 Harding Park and was torn down.  There is a new building on the site that I believe is owned by the local home owners association, and there was no provisions made for the fire company.  The address they give now, 300 whiteplains road to located near the...

    Aviation 3 is reopening ???

I can only comment on how we use to receive calls for either fire or medical emergencies when I was an active member there.  ( 1968 ? 1977) During fund drive, where we would go door to door requesting donations we would distribute telephone and window stickers with several telephone numbers on...

FDNY Chief Officer Cars and Vehicles

Back in the late 60's early 70,s I'm not sure of the makes or models, but I do remember several of the Batt. cars as being either Ford or Dodge 4-door station wagons.  Besides the cases with the Scott air packs, inhalator/Resuscitator , turnout gear for the chief and aide and a first aid kit.

    Rear Mounts and Tillers

Do the rear mount ladders and the tiller ladders still carry ladder pipes and the hose for it?  I have seldom seen or heard of them being used since the more wide spread use of tower ladders  When towers were first being issued they still had and used the ladder pipes but haven't heard of them...
