So if we can no longer get the fire to help us on the cardiac arrest, and we are on the fifth floor of a walk up building, and it’s your family member. What are we supppsed to do to get your family member down.
In Da Bronx, people double park their cars and leave them there all night, no enforcement, no ticketing or towing. I work EMS, I can’t get my rig past them sometimes. And if I hit those double parked cars I am at fault.
I work EMS, from what I have heard if a vehicle is blocking a hydrant and a fire apparatus pushes the vehicle with the truck out of the way with their apparatus or breaks windows at a fire the city is held liable.
I have many many calls where I arrive on scene for a chest pain call and the patient says to me that they told the call taker they had chest pain just to get us here quickly. Calls turns out to be a sick job.
I work the voluntary hospital system. Overall we do a good job. FDNY has to stop treating us like crap. If all the voluntary ambulances citywide were suddenly gone for 12 hours there is no way FDNY could handle the workload.
