    ANOTHER WAR YEARS VET PASSES.

Bob was very active for many years with the Florida FDNY Retirees Assn, When he recently lost his wife, he moved back up to New York to be with his family. He could always be seen at the monthly retirees meetings here until his health recently started to fail. When Bob was in his L.I.C. shops...

It may have been mentioned elsewhere that the Dept. policy for wooden extension ladders was "fly out" = only to facilate bringing down victims that were unable to come down without assistance. Easier sliding them down on the beams without hitting the tips of the bed ladder. That procedure...

could there have been a failure of one or both of the dogs on the fly ladder? And how is the member that was on the ladder at the time of the failure?

    FDNY portable Master Stream Evolution

Traveling up and down the east coast from MA, CT, DE and PA, I've seen a lot of Seagrave ladders, many are rearmounts with ladder pipes, many with remote controlled combination tips. I've seen them operate first hand and they are quite effective, from fog to straight stream and able to pivot...

Well, there's a student of the Communications manual - he knows about the old 30 ft. rule for exposures.

Are these questions regarding outside (brush etc) or occupied structural fires? I would presume with OSF, the arrival of FDNY companies, regardless of whether a volunteer company is already on scene, would meet the same protocols as if there were no VFD on scene. 2nd and 3rd due engines would...

Just curious as to why the Division transmitted the 2-2, twenty one minutes after XCTO told him the second comes with the additional engine.

Believe it or not, Gloria's Pizza is still alive and well (under a different name.) The two "Sal's" opened AMORE PIZZA in the Whitestone Shopping Center off Linden Place when Gloria closed. Their sons now run it. Same great "thin crust" pizza as there was 60 years ago.

Woolworths used to be that gray building on the left in the photo? BTW - no vehicle traffic from Northern Blvd. to the library, except buses. Main street is now a pedestriam mall.

I've made it into Watson and Wheeler first many times when I was ECC in E94. Streets were wide open for us; longer run down Watson, a narrow 2-way for 96/54

Island Park NY (Nassau) 3d Alarm 3/17/25

Island Park FD is only 4 min. away. Long Beach may have actually been closer and could have arrived first if they would have received the initial call. Hard to believe the photos of that home - gives new meaning to "fully involved!" Have to wonder how long it was burning before the initial...

I thought when Banks and Maddrey were cut loose, Daughtry went with them. Then, he gets a promotion? I hope whoever the next mayor is, he keeps Turner on board. This guy actually loves this job as much as his, and if he could have, he probably would have taken the test way back when.....a...

I think that may have been an old 3 story 200x100 Dutch mansion that the police chief bought when Flushing officially became part of Queens, and became the first police Pct. in Flushing. That closed up about 60 years ago when they built the new Pct. on Union St.

Must have been a good amount of fire on the 1st floor. Heard over the radio that mother and infant child were removed from the 2nd floor via portable ladd.er, rather than by interior stairs., followed by a 10-41 Code 1..

Seems a little strange that in the middle of the day, nobody thought to run downstairs and bang on the apparatus doors like in the old days.
