1/15/25 Queens All Hands Box 5572

R4 was on the way to a pin job on the Throgs Neck Bridge when this came in, redirected into the job, BN20 advises no rescue required at the pin Also, normally assigned first-due L162 (I think?) relocated to Bronx 4th alarm

Sounds like it'll still be going when they get there. Lol

    1/15/25 Bronx 4th Alarm Box 3740

Earlier on, there was a dewatering operation in the 11th Battalion. They were using a Tac (I assume Tac 1) and other units for dewatering equipment, sounded like it could be a while, so my guess is Tac 2 was heading to this via Manhattan

    1/15/25 Brooklyn 2nd Alarm Box 2887

On the topic of borough commands, someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the 8th Division parts of Brooklyn (BNs 40, 42, and 43) report up to the SI Boro commander, not the BK Boro commander, because they're in the 8th, and the 8th reports to SI, and alternatively you'd have the BK...

    Possible Battalion Chief Incident Assignments?

So, there are a few different layers to this. Per the ops reference guide: - 1BC from either BN2, 6, 10, or 11 is assigned daily, Mon to Sat, to be the FDNY TLO in the MTA's Rail Control Centre (RCC) from 6am to 7pm. - Outside those hours, it appears any local battalion that is rail trained...

I think it is in the ops reference guide somewhere, will check later

    Possible Battalion Chief Incident Assignments?

Looking through past incident rundowns I see BN6 and BN7 also assigned occasionally as TLOs. The MTA rail control centre is only a few blocks from the 9th, so it makes sense they'd be the most commonly assigned for sure.

    Possible Battalion Chief Incident Assignments?

There may be someone on staff who is designated to liaise with MTA on strategic / administrative matters, but the Transit Liaison Officer is a different initiative. Certain battalions have been trained in transit operations and respond to the MTA control centre (this may be the wrong term) to...

    Possible Battalion Chief Incident Assignments?

By no means is this a comprehensive list but two additional assignments that come to mind arise from the 10-66, one BC gets assigned as the FF Locator Chief and one as the FAST Group Leader, I believe. Another: for rail incidents, one BC is assigned Transit Liaison Officer (TLO). This is...

    1/10/25 Bronx 5th Alarm Box 3462

In addition to MCC1 and MCC2, there is the Mobile Operations Centre (MOC) located at E207/L110, and the IMT Planning Vehicle, located at Engine 262. The IMT planning vehicle can be deployed outside of NY as a part of national deployments for the Incident Management Team and I believe is fairly...

    1/10/25 Bronx 5th Alarm Box 3462

A few thoughts on the Super Pumper. With respect, I don't understand the obsession with asking about SP1 on every big fire. This misses the point about the current unit's capabilities. From what I can tell, people are viewing the current SP through the same lens as the old SP even though there...

    12/16/24 Queens 2nd Alarm Box 1024

Ok, so if R2 can get to the Rockaways faster than R4, make it R2's response area and they won't have to leave their response area to get there. I cannot follow the logic of not sending the fastest unit - imagine telling someone "oh yes you badly need help but we're going to wait 5 or 10 extra...

Would you also say that 5 shouldn't come over to the 40/42/43 on the same principle?
