    Mount Vernon - 5th Alarm 11/23/25

Well, as far as I am concerned that is stupid. The people of Mount Vernon do not care about borders or policies - they want and deserve the best possible response when a box comes in - so in my view it is incumbent on the leadership of the MVFD and FDNY to generate interoperability to provide...

    Mount Vernon - 5th Alarm 11/23/25

By my mapping, E63/L39/BN15 are 13 minutes away from this box, meaning some large portion of that mutual aid assignment was much further away than the FDNY units. Wonder what the rationale was for not getting this requested or approved quickly.

    11/18/25 Staten Island 2nd Alarm Box 794

They don't relocate squads to rescues anymore, and in any event, SQ8's quarters is more centrally located to cover the Island. That said, I am not sure why they moved 288 instead of squad 1 as it seems squad 1 is the most common SOC relocation to the Island.

Scanner Feeds om 5-0 Radio App/ Broadcastify

I've been paying the 6.99/month to listen on the FireWire App. It would be nice if Broadcastify was back up and running given it is free, but 6.99 is well worth it to hear all channels in my view

    11/3/25 Bronx 3rd Alarm Box 2749

I do not believe it is correct that the CWTC only responds after 4pm. While I understand the boro commander is the primary response during the day, and the CWTC is primarily for after-hours response, if you look through the history of recent major incidents, the CWTC often responds at their...

Just when we forgot all about the Kavanaugh nightmare !

Kavanaugh did a tremendous amount of damage to the FDNY in a short period of time. Fortunately, the job is resilient and her successor has seemingly turned things in the right direction. The notion that she doesn't matter does not withstand scrutiny, and anybody who cares about the FDNY should...

    11/3/25 Bronx 3rd Alarm Box 2749

Is it not fair for a reader to ask why the Queens Boro would respond to a box in the Bronx? To the best of my knowledge, there is in fact a good reason, which is: the likeliest thing is that Car 9 had the citywide and chose to respond, which they can do at their discretion

    11/3/25 Bronx 3rd Alarm Box 2749

Since I know there has been some back and forth regarding the rules on naming chiefs on this site, I'll just say that if you watch GSE Ep. 155, around the 44:40 mark, you may get your answer Congratulations to Chief Esposito

    10/10/25 Brooklyn 2nd Alarm 10-66 Box 1905

A couple of questions on the assignment, I thought the 10-66 brought the major matrix, in which case there should be a second rescue and squad, right? Also BCs as FF locator and FAST group supervisor? Or did this stuff change with the recent revisions to the 10-66?

    10/5/25 Brooklyn *HAZMAT* Box 1913

Yes I am aware, however, I believe most squads are now carrying small overpack drums with cell block on their first piece due to the increase in LI battery fires.

    9/17/25 Brooklyn 5th Alarm Box 1387

Always lots of questions about the super pumper at every big fire. I think people need to shift their view on this, for a couple of reasons. First, the new super pumper (though it does have a large pump) would be better thought of as a foam pumper. If you're asking to see it at every large fire...

9/17/25 Queens All Hands Box 4831

Shouldn't there be an HMTU on this with HAZMAT assigned? 270 3rd due, 288 as the squad... 274 HMTU? Or was 288 assigned as the HMTU and no squad assigned since the 50 said no additional units?
