My Grand-uncle, Thomas Hanley, served in the FDNY from 6/16/16 to 7/22/52 and retired as the Capt. of Engine 90. I am interested in finding out what companies he was assigned to during his career (if possible).

Bill Moeclare's son was a firefighter in 132 before he transferred to R-1. A good guy, he later attended Nursing School at Bellevue prior to his retirement.

Here I was wondering what your thoughts were regarding FDNY type Tower Ladders vs Ladder Towers (i.e. buckets mounted on aerial ladders on either rear mounted or mid mounted apparatus).

I think the FDNY realized early on (probably after TL 1 and TL 14 showed their capabilities) just how valuable tower ladders were. The original plan was one tower per division, but after they "proved themselves" that changed to almost one per battalion and in some cases two per battalion...
Except for the short trailer, which really bounced the tillerman around, those 85ft Macks were good rigs. The tormentors were quick to set up and the aerial was quick to get into operation. They could take a beating and keep going.
