    New FDNY Tillers

Yes 38 had one of the 110 footers and it was a pain in da rear quarters to get it in outa quarters. The front end of the aerial was high enough that when backing in or pulling out to the left the aerial would go over the fence on top of the wall across the street from quarters by the nursing...

    New FDNY Tillers

I don't want to make some of my friends, still in da Bronx, mad so I will keep it to myself but there are a few areas in da Bronx that still have some narrow blocks and are hard to navigate. Also, the work has moved north so it would behoove the job to put a couple of tillers in da Bronx to...

    New FDNY Tillers

The way it was done in the past yes the initial new tiller may cost more then a rear mount but there are a few factors to keep in mind. In the past when they came time for replacement only the tractor part was replaced. If the aerial part is good just refurb and attach a new tractor. From...

    New FDNY Tillers

My 25 cents, inflation made 2 cents obsolete, is that da Bronx could use 2 or 3 new tillers.

5/13/23 Bronx All Hands Box 3350

Not to get into a big drawn out discussion but I did work in this firehouse and it is basically a borderline box as you point out with distance but more times than not 48/56 get in first. Navigating those narrow streets can be very difficult, especially on shopping days and especially on...

5/13/23 Bronx All Hands Box 3350

I believe your run down is correct but 48/56 have a MUCH easier response then 88/38. They go left out of quarters right on Fordham and right on Hughes, all wide open streets. 88/38 have narrower streets to slow them down.

E88/L38 and the old Bx CO may become historic landmarks

Interesting note, those two buildings were built at separate times. First the Engine side was built and very soon after the Truck side was built. For the longest time there were only two doors connecting the houses, one in the back of the apparatus floor and one on the third floor front of the...

Video of new NYPD Ford E Mach electric vehicle RMP

I suggest giving it to E 70 in City Island. With their run count it'll sure be charged and with their response district they can probably keep it plugged in with extension cords when out on a call. LOL

    A LOOK BACK.

If I remember this job correctly, the entrance to this building was on Daly Ave, right next to 45 quarters, with a shaft by the bunk room window. When this job came in 45 and 58 where out of quarters on a different run. The fire got into the shaft and cracked the windows of the bunk room...
