Here's another side to it, sometimes a missing person report is broadcast in NYC for example. The description is given and it goes out over the radio and someone monitoring it in the area may see something. Being that cops, fire or EMS can't be everywhere a citizen may help save someone who may...
Good job by the city putting their own employees in danger with this electric or hybrid garbage. Imagine this being in your garage or next to your home.
I can figure salt water drafting had to cause alot of problems. Besides the salt water vs metal issues the hoses and other components had to be pretty damaged after doing that for awhile. Then add pollution of all kinds it had to be a real headache.
I've had this for years its a beautiful detailed set. That's also a very good price since its discontinued. The bases the models are mounted on also have fitted plastic covers to keep dust off the models.
A childhood friend of my dad was a FDNY Fire Marshal back in the War Years. I'm not sure what borough he worked. He was a great guy and a close family friend
I do remember my dad's friend carrying. He had a .38 snub he carried in a waistband holster. He would often leave it on top of our...

They're busy trying to find another way of taking our Second Amendment rights. More interested in so called "gun violence" instead of enforcing laws. Good job. (y)
Another point is some of us are nowhere near the transmissions we're listening to. I listen to the 5 boroughs on my FDNY radio. I live in NJ by the time I got to the closest incident which would be in SI I'm at least a half hour out. Same with NYPD. The locals here are either encrypted or have...
I don't really see the reason to encrypt FD anyway. There's no reason to figure out where they are because someones definitely gonna show up. And it will be in minutes. Criminals are much more concerned with the whereabouts of cops. If they're so worried about people using two-ways to interrupt...
The small towns here because of their small size have encrypted. East Brunswick and Spotswood to name a couple. And this isn't a place where much goes on but I'm figuring the lower cost of less radios to upgrade is a factor. Its annoying when you want to monitor but these frequencies aren't too...
And cheap radios have flooded the market. Once upon a time a scanner or 2-way radio were at least a few hundred. Now anyone can buy a 2-way on Amazon for 30 bucks. I have a BCD996 P2 and a HT1250 LS+ those 2 radios cost me a nice piece of change. The apps are another story. Too much access and...
