    1/17/26 Bronx 10-75 Box 2959

No, ground floor apartments accessible from the street, below the first story. Cellar apartments were usually below grade where the building superintendents ("supers") usually lived.

    1/17/26 Bronx 10-75 Box 2959

Five-story walk-up with additional walk-ins on the ground floor... Exactly like the one I grew up in on Decatur Avenue. Probably the same architect. Just what it's listed as in the official New York City housing records. Guess I can't resist correcting the CIDS.

Just looking at the map wouldn't 96 get in first due? Where's 82 and 31? Just asking.

    1/16/26 Manhattan 2nd Alarm Box 1133

Built in 1899 with still working fireplaces. Love it. Two units in the building. Last estimate at a cool $15mil. Ya' think someone would have thought to check out the fireplace liner.

    1/12/26 Bronx 10-75 Box 3300

Was that the actual response or the just the usual assignment? I think what 8060 is getting at is if 88 was out that would make 45 first due. But if 92 was relocated at 45 that would make 92 first due, no? Any idea where 88 vanished into the vapors?

Increase in arson fires. War years 2.0

I believe you guys are missing the real reason for the arson of the 1960s and '70s... Rent control. Rent control was a program started during World War II to protect families whose breadwinners were off to war. WW2 put an end to the Great Depression. Factories started manufacturing and wages...

    VINTAGE FDNY RIG PHOTOS.

Anybody have any idea where the original siren was located on the 1947 ALF? E48 in my neighborhood ran with one (I think originally assigned to E1). The siren was an old moaner, silver in color, mounted on the step below the chauffeurs door. It actually pointed across the front of the rig to...

Bronx Ladder Company Coverage by Decade

I failed to mention that Engine 70 on City Island was also a combination company in 1910.

Bronx Ladder Company Coverage by Decade

Great stuff Cap. Not to be picky (but of course it is) a few additions... In 1910, Ladder 19 was located further south than plotted in a single house in Melrose on Forrest Avenue and 161st Street. Today it is the site of the NYCHA Forrest Housing Project. L19 moved there in 1898 from Ogden...

    Firehouses - Bronx: E50 L19

Great photo! At one time about 1970 this house contained Engines 50 and 50-2, Ladder 19, and Division 6. It might look too small to house them all but they were all so busy they were hardly ever around at the same time to be in quarters.

    Firehouses - Bronx: E50 L19

50/19 former house, built in the 1880s, is still standing around the corner between Park and 3rd Avenue on 166th Street. Any chance of a picture of that? Great photos thanks for sharing capp.

    12/15/25 Bronx 3rd Alarm Box 3314

In one of the videos 88 took a bottle line and operated on the roof. Likely first or second due on the second alarm.

    DREAM FDNY SOC SUPPORT LAD.

Is this new rescue model outfitted with a pump also? I don't know about Staten Island but in the Bronx the only quad in service in the 1950s was at Engine Company 96. It had previously operated as a combination engine company with a pumper, hose wagon, and a city service ladder truck. These...

If there is no ladder to raise why do they call it an "aerial" rescue? Does it fly too?

    VINTAGE FDNY RIG PHOTOS.

Notice no Chrome around the grill and front bumper, as compared to the 1940 model. Chrome had gone to war.
