RRV inservice for Cold Weather 2/1/26

So the RRV's were to be going on cold exposure runs because EMS is in backlog? I don't imagine they can transport in the RRV and I'm assuming the members aren't putting homeless in the RRV to keep warm awaiting EMS. So what is their role? Hold the cold person's hand while they colder awaiting EMS?

I know we're talking engine and squad run to work numbers but L133 has to have the best run to work outside of SOC. 1886 runs and 130 10-75's or better.

With 287/136 in the temp quarters I'm surprised 292 doesn't get into this box ahead of them. That's an easy run for 292 on QB to 45 Ave and a quick left onto 79 St.

In a situation like this where they need the extra vehicles couldn't they just work off of the radio?

That period between 1973-1984 the population really dropped. I never realized this before. I know it was the war years likely causing people to leave due to being burnt out. Was the increase from 1984-2011 likely due to rebuilding these burnt out neighborhoods?

It seems like over the years, lower Manhattan, The Flushing area and The Williamsburg area lost the most companies. I know Flushing and North West Brooklyn are booming with people now, but was there a point where these neighborhoods had a much lower population than they did in say the 40's?

140 must have initially been unavailable. They should be 3rd or 4th due here.

They were at 330/172 until March 1995. I'm sure they covered most of the south west Brooklyn battalions

Surprised that 286/135 don't come through the park to get in on this.

    12/28/25 Queens 2nd Alarm Box 7053

This job is so close to 288 but still a tough run for them due to Borden Ave being a dead end going east. Would they go down Borden cross over the LIE and then come back to Grand?

    Firehouses - Bronx: E50 L19

I've posted about this before, but I always imagine this house on E166 St during the war years and shift change. 3 rigs coming and going constantly, members coming in and leaving for shift on that small street must have been crazy!

I had forgotten about Haven Plaza until you posted that. In and out of all those buildings many times..... I don't miss it...lol

That I knew. What was in the building that Batt 18 is currently in? It doesn't look like it was built after the merger

Always fun to listen to EMS units try to find Szold Place if they were not familiar with the area back before GPS.

Was EMS Batt 18 always an EMS station even in the HHC days?
