Didn't say it was right, and I've had this conversation with people i worked with.( theres more then a few sogs in my old dept with my name associated with it for similar things) People dont care what the number is on the side of the truck, the name or slogan or anything else. All they care...

From what I understand, the Rescues are very territorial. With a few limited differences basically each rescue covers their Boro. Doesn't matter if 1 is already on the road or 10 minutes closer.

Broad Channel, Hamilton Beach and Howard Beach, all have similar roads. Un marked, barely marked or you have to get lost to find it. I forget the names off hand but theres more then yould think.

Where was 285? I know the cad is " different " after the bridge, but hands down they'd beat 236, and definitely 293 and 308.

According to Broad Channels fb page, West Hamilton Beach provided Mutual Aid. Doesnt specify engine or ambulance. Also it was Broad Channel Engine 203 that responded.

More then likely. Basically find a hydrant somewhere, hook up, take off every discharge cap, open every discharge and let the water run for about 10 or 20 minutes, operate each gate a few times and call it a night/ day. With today's materials in the pumps and valves, salt water drying out and...

    Firehouses - Bronx: E82 L31

I remember excerpts from the book at the moment. Have to find it again and reread it. Its kind of like Emergency! from the 70s. The more that has changed, the more that stayed the same.

I understand that completely but they really dont have a choice. The manufacturers add inches every so often, which add up over time. Look at the difference between 70s 75 Mack/Baker vs today's 75 Seagrave. Its not an overnight thing, it happens over years and decades. Orlando FD bought a 70...

Future expansion. Rigs get bigger and bigger every few years. Look at a Tower from the 60s/70s vs today. Makes perfect sense to oversize the floor.

I think i have E82s Seagrave. I have to look. It would be amazing if at somepoint Code 3 had made period Macks and tillers for 82/85/31/712 from the book.

Its amazing looking at that picture, that according to Dennis Smiths book, 2 engines and 2 tillers were parked in there during the war years.

    New FDNY Tillers

I've heard something similar years ago. They dont like using reserve rigs as spares, and if so only for really short time frames.

    New Seagraves

Funny you mention a Pierce 95 tl with issues. Buddy of mine works for Osceola County Fire and they were replacing their only platform. Came down to Pierce and Sutphen SPH100. For what ever reason they went with Pierce. They had to send the truck back with over 120 someodd issues. Pretty sure...
