    Fire Investigator Unit

I retired from BFI almost 27 years ago and it just seems so different today. The big thing was the Social Club Task Force, SIU and Auto Fraud Squad and the 4 marshals offices back then. But the end result is the same.

    A LOOK BACK.

The worst jobs were in the Old Law Tenements with the long hallway to the first bedroom off to the left or right, take out the window take a blow and continue down the hallway to the kitchen and other rooms where the fire was. Crawling down hallways was normal procedure in them. A lot of bad...

FDNYs 2nd Sections, TCUs, and Tin House

The Key thing to remember about the Tin House with 232 & 176 was that we were 4 blocks from 120 & 231 and west 4 blocks from 227 & 123. There was so much work around every once in a while Dispatcher would transmit any trucks available in Brownsville. As a charter member of 176 coming from 233-2...

There is a post on here regarding 2nd Sections. I just give my 2 cents because someone had mentioned Watkins Street and I wanted to clarify what transpired during the war years from what I remember.

TCU 732 came from Qtrs. of 277 to the Tin House on Sept. 23, 1971 with 232. TCU was disbanded Aug. 5, 1972. They thought they were going to be 176, but from what I remember somebody's toes were stepped on, so they made it disappear. When 176 was formed 19 Brothers came from 233-2, 3 from 11...

    Residential Requirements

The injustice is City residents get I believe 10 points on the FDNY entrance exam. So living in Nassau or Suffolk or upstate or other than the 5 Boros you have a big disadvantage. Once on the job you can move out of the City to the above mentioned areas. In the late 80's they made a big push to...
