159 would be on initial ticket. 152 would have bought the satellite on 10-75 or 7-5. 161 is back up to 152 for foam and also on initial ticket

12/2/23 No More 5 Man Engines

Officers in the FDNY are not counted as a firefighter. They are the officer and are supervisors. While many an officer might help with a difficult stretch, that’s not their job. For manning, it’s now 4

The original nycha buildings were 6 stories. The high rises were built around them in many of the nycha complexes. If under 75’, no standpipe. It’s more than a handful of buildings

There should be an ADC to fill in for the division and ABC for the now open battalion.

Tactical training does a very good job of teaching extrication. Most trucks go about 4 times a year to try to catch each group. Nothing really in a SSL second piece to make a difference. New Rigs also have battery operated tools, and they are good. 2nd truck responding with second set of...

120 has been considered an “A” house on pd for over 40 years. The 123 on the south shore was nicknamed Mayberry. I think it was Braton that made them take down their screen door. The crime has always been in certain neighborhoods, just like anywhere else. Post and news never really covered

120 pct is one of the busiest in the city. It is also Labor Day weekend. Neighborhood is Caribian. Probably increased numbers working. Buildings on the block have fair share of crime UPS doesn’t deliver inside of those buildings. You have to go to truck since the 80’s. Too many of their drivers...

    ALARM BOX BARREL KEY.

JK, that went out the window probably in the 80's or 90's. Books still have badge desk issuing 1620 key. When I got promoted to lieutenant in '02, asked for a 1620 key. After the civilian at the desk asked around, they opened a drawer and said here. The one I was using was in better shape!

    Tower Ladder operation

I was assigned to a tl as a firefighter. Senior chauffeurs taught us when responding as extra truck, look where everyone else responded from. Would loop around and try to come down block from other direction. Sometimes even back in to get bucket in play

    Tower Ladder operation

If the TL is being special called as a TL, the unit will stay together. TL members usually assist with getting the supply lines stretched and into rig. It is company decision on who the two members are up in the bucket. Some it's the outside team, others in is a different combination. One...

Not training. Fort doesn't have an actual helipad. If Coast Guard landing a helicopter, it's in a field. CG gives FDNY a heads up and we send companies. Usually a high ranking officer.

    7/7/23 Manhattan 2nd Alarm 10-76 Box 1273

Rebreather is not supposed to be used in immediate fire area. In addition, there is issues with how hot the area is, being you are rebreathing the air. The unit uses ice, but that only goes so far. As per the chief, it’s to provide supervision. The soc battalions are trained, but so are some...

    Newark, NJ 7/5/23 Ship Fire

Geo hit nail on the head, it’s not structural firefighting. FDNY has done ship fire training. When I did it, was a new lieutenant. Lesson was forget what we were used to. Air management (time) and unit cohesion was stressed. Needed to be cognizant of being able to get to a safe area still on...

    Equipment Advice

There was some sort of pilot program in the late 80’s or early 90’s in the FDNY. I believe it monitored heart rate. Didn’t last too long. Heart rates were through the roof especially for chauffeurs if it was a phone alarm for fire. I think it is something nobody wants to see
