    Everything Old Is New Again

Actually the back "fender" was black as well. The NYPD original paint scheme had both fenders and the running board black. They also had a warbler type siren tthat had a distinctive sound. Maybe they will go back to wearing leather jackets too.

    THEY SAVED NEW YORK

TK, It was like back to the future, he's a little hunched over and has gray hair. We swapped a few stories, I had him laughing.

    THEY SAVED NEW YORK

Thanks for adding the update Willy. Yes we are getting close to wrapping up the interviews and photos. Last week, I visited the fire academy and interviewed the Chief of Training Frank Leeb and Chief Ray Downeys son Deputy Chuck Downey. Both were extremely friendly, helpful and kind. Magnificent...

    E206 area

It was an industrial area, closed down at night. Usually quiet with the usual dumpster fires and abandoned car fires. Or, an all night factory job, or some lousy foam run.

    FDNY Response Guidelines

The introduction of CPC concept was explained to me from FDNY Firefighter Phil McArdle, charter member of Hazmat Compny 1. He was interviewed in upcoming book, "They Saved New York."

    E206 area

I was detailed there from L 112 on occasion, you either had a restful night or you were up all night at some job that required the foam rig. I watched the sunrise from 9PM on 8th Av in Manhattan with an asbestos leak from manholes, ugh. The firehouse was nutty, too. They kept count of every...

FDNY FF EDWARD WALSH L 5 LODD 4/1/1891

Firehouse is still there, now a private residence that renovated the joint beautifully. The Esso gas station property is now used by the NYPD Bomb Squad. The patch was designed by yours truly. Sitting behind the front wheel while the members were performing building inspection on 14th St...

    ENGINE CO. 5 1958 MACK

Lt. TK (L 112) First fire company when he was hired. E 5 trivia; members of E 5 noticed memebers of NYPD Emergency Truck 5 wearing collar brass with E 5. They started to wear the same collar brass and lo and behold, it started the trend in FDNY of companies wearing company #brass.
