4 alarm fire, apartment building, 19th St., Union City, NJ. 04-14-23

Another multi-alarm fire in Union City, NJ in the last couple of days. There was a 5 alarm fire on 8th St., Union City on Wednesday night (see the “Across the river in NJ” thread in the National forum). https://abc7ny.com/union-city-fire-apartment-19th-avenue-new-jersey/13126313/...

    Across the River in NJ

Copy of the rundown for the Weehawken fire from Skyler's video on YouTube. Note that there were only 3 engines/squad, and 1 truck on the initial response. They had to wait for the units from Jersey City to fill out the first alarm per the "working fire" (10-75). Higher alarm responses were all...

    Across the River in NJ

Another great video by Skyler. Was puzzled how NH Ladder 4 (tiller) got in the front of the fire building since they would normally not be first due truck. Their firehouse in West New York is about 12 minutes away. (I used to live around the corner from that firehouse). Skyler mentioned that...

    DEMOTIONS & REASSIGNMENTS.

    1) Sorry folks but I missed the rationale why they were demoted. 2) Has there been recent demotions of chief officers in the FDNY in recent years? Thanks

    3/5/23 Bronx 5th Alarm Box 4794

It was very impressive watching Chief of Ops Esposito (Car 4) doing the 360 walkaround of the fire scene and eating some smoke instead of hanging around the command post with the other white hats. Kudos again to the Majestirium and Skyler for their videos and all possible angles of the fire scene.

Hey John: You need to take a little time to read/see the comments from members on this site who much appreciate the effort you put in to video the incidents day or night and all kinds of weather conditions. Your dedication to cover the scene from various angles, to include the fireground audio...

West New York & Union City, NJ 2 Multiple Alarms Major Fires

Skyler: Great catch of this job. The video from the front (Bergenline Ave) and the rear (Van Buren Pl) of the scene plus your commentary and the rundown were excellent. You must have lived in Jersey in the past since you were familiar with all of the different departments that responded. I...
