During the “War Years”, we, L114, would be turned out for some 1400 & 2600 boxes for work, that were actually L14’ boxes & other Manhattan & Bronx companies. Somehow, boro CO’s being so busy & transmission lines getting crossed, it happened. Probably those companies were sent out to our boxes...

    8/31/25 Brooklyn 2nd Alarm Box 1439

    114 was always 2nd due @ 1439, straight down 5th avenue & 122 was 1st due. Probably changed with new FH location. Boxes from 27th into 30’s, along 3rd ave & 2nd avenues, it was 131 & 114.

    8/27/25 Brooklyn 10-75 Box 2581

That’s crazy. 228 about 6 blocks away, straight up 39st & 240, Prospect Ave & Greenwood Ave has to go around & over the expressway to Ft Hamilton Pkwy & E 5th st & then out to 39th st. That response should be changed, in my opinion. One is less than a mile away, the other 1&1/2 to 2 miles away.

No way 240 beats 228 in, 228 much closer, unless they were elsewhere when assigned.

    8/3/25 Brooklyn 10-75 Box 2550

True, but I saw the “normal assignment” post. That was always a 2nd due box, but moving dn to 4th avenue might have changed that.

    7/12/25 Brooklyn 10-75 Box 2845

I remember that story & I also remember 111 interchanging with 168 & them stopping at a “mob” bar(1717)on 86th st to pick up some libation & not realizing it was mob connected, walked out without paying. The next day the company was visited, thinking it was their guys & after clearing things up...

    6/6/25 Manhattan 10-77 Box 909

This dropping down thing is a misuse of the signal. Dropping down means more units were used, negating a 10-18. Should be used 2 engines, 1 truck or 1 engine, 2 trucks, etc. 10-18 is a specific signal. What “work” is given to the other units other that the 1st & 2nd due units when “dropping...

6/5/25 Brooklyn All Hands Box 2660

A number of years ago the 40 Bn Cmndr changed the response pattern for units. Putin then we, 114 & the other units would go into the block from opposite directions. In the above ost for box 2660, we’d come down 58th street from 4th ave & 109 would come up from 3rd. Ave in the direction of...
