"Whitestone Eagles" Engine 295 / Tower Ladder 144 First Due

Along the waterfront that is between the Whitestone and Throggs Neck Bridges - far from most companies. Whitestone area of Queens

Numerous boxes out in those battalions would explain L167 not being 10-84

Physically maybe ....however the Special Unit  response areas are not always predicated just on distance.

Pic of probie (E295) helmet after this job... impacts from the wind impacted fire. Wind conditions from the water created blow torch like effect for FFs...

296 was probably still at a deep-seated dump fire across from Speed's Airport and 272 was at the Nedicks, Main & Northern. :'(

I think the rollers on the Nedick's frank grill were on fire.  Do you remember LoBosco's salvage/junk yard over there in the Swamp?  We used to bring the excess newspapers from my newspaper route over there- at that time the Capt from E274, by the name of August Fritz, lived locally and used to take me over there on Saturday mornings when he was off - every few months or so and we would get a few dollars for the newspapers.  He used to keep a sickle in his trunk and would always stop to clear a hydrant where grass was overgrown.  An amazing role model!

LoBosco's absolutely. They also had a contracting company with heavy equipment if I'm not mistaken.

You are absolutely correct - he also had a daughter who was a year or two ahead of me in grammar school. I remember she had a great figure - didn't know I was enjoying eye candy at the time
