Fire on the 4th floor of a 7 story 100x100 Class 1 MD.

1142 - Bn. 3 - 10-75 for heavy smoke on the 4th floor.

L-48 FAST

1146 - Bn. 3 - All Hands - PWH - We have 1 precautionary line stretched.  Fire in Apt. 4F.

1149 - Bn. 3 - Secondaries are complete and negative.  Under Control - Duration 17 minutes.

That hookup would have been tough to do back in the days of the hard suction hoses.

you are right about that. With no front suction intake it would have taken coupling both lengths of 4-1/2 hard suction Plus the 2-1/2 hard hydrant connection.  I don't think I ever saw that done though. Back when there would have been another pumper out on the street hooked up to the hydrant and then relaying to the one parked off the road. That front suction intake plus the fifty feet of large diameter hose as a soft suction is a god send today.  Just recently, at a job in East New York, they draped the soft suction over a fence to make the hook up at a housing project.
