Location: LIRR Atlantic Terminal - Flatbush Avenue at Atlantic Avenue

Train derailment on track 6 with multiple injuries.

0827 - TL-105 - We have a confirmed train derailment. One confirmed injury.

0830 - Bn. 31 - We have a derailed train at the platform with 18 injuries. We need additional EMS and Engines (E-280 & E-239).

0836 - Div. 11 - All Hands - We need power cut to track 6. Multiple patients being removed at this time.

H&L-118 FAST - E-207 Additional Engine

0841 - Bn. 50 - I am at the LIRR control center. Confirming that power is cut to track 6 only.

0855 - FC - Per Division 11, transmit the 10-60. We have 38 injuries and need power cut to track #5.

0859 - Brooklyn - Staging at Atlantic and 4th Avenue.

0905 - FC - Per Car 4B, we have 37 injuries, 34 are green tag, 3 are yellow tag. Primaries are complete and negative on the train and platform. There were 600 persons on the train and we are evacuating them all to street level.

0909 - FC - Secondaries are negative on the train. Rescue 2 is conducting searches under the train. PWH - Duration 49 minutes.

0915 - FC - Secondaries are complete and negative on the train, under the train, and on the platform. Removing the last victims from the platform. Under Control - Duration 55 minutes.

I hope that responding a battalion directly to the LIRR Control center is a new procedure that makes complete sense. Nothing like a Battalion Chief looking you in the eye and asking can you confirm ? It is reassuring knowing directly the power is OFF , and cut out the confusion.

A BC assigned as a Transit Laison has been in place for quite awhile now.

Makes a lot of sense.  I was a volunteer in Northern Delaware and I can't tell you how many times that we were on the tracks fighting a field fire or picking up the remains of a person struck and had trains run through our scene (after being told through our dispatcher that the track was shut down by Amtrak).

132 actually 3rd due but with 105's report of train derailment 132 was probably sent as the SOC Support truck.

Compared to the derailment/accident in Hoboken recently, today's incident was considered relatively minor
