L169: Brooklyn -Notify PD and Battalion we are in Minor MVA @ 2742 E.12 St. 11:20

'This is why we can't have nice things...' in Brighton Beach 😉
Actually when you look at the total number of runs for all of the FDNY fleet, coupled with the massive traffic, traffic congestion, some narrow streets, double parked cars, tourists who don't know where they are going, etc, it is absolutely amazing that the number of apparatus involved motor vehicle accidents is not much higher. A Testament to some of the best damned chauffeurs in the Global Fire Service.

You'd think Tourists would know not to drive in NYC. But nope.

What do you consider a Tourists?

According to Vocabulary.com - Tourist Definition means:
"Someone who visits a city, town, or historic site just for pleasure of exploring".

Well, I guess then going back to my days of buffing the FDNY I was considered a tourist.

Coming from Connecticut, I toured places like Brownsville, Coney Island, Bushwick, Bed-Sty., Williamsburg, Brooklyn, plus Jaminica Queens, Harlem, Lower East Side, and Washington Hgts, in Manhattan, Also the West Bronx, South Bronx, and North Bronx.
I often took pictures and sometimes talked to the people in the neighborhoods as the talked about the streets they live on.

Yes, for me, it was a lasting, lifetime experience.

Anybody not from NY and CT.

Yes this is coming from a person who is born and raised in NJ.

Was going to say aren't we tourist since we don't live in a borough. How would us Buffs get around the boroughs if not taking subways or cabs lol

I know my way around the Boroughs better than Bridgeport lol

Last time I drove in Manhattan was in 1963 . . . and I wouldn't consider driving there again. This from a native New Yorker who went to both high school and college in New York City. My hat's off to anyone whose job involves driving in Manhattan for any reason . . . most especially if they drive an emergency vehicle (police, fire, EMS, etc.)

When I was at L169 we always made a right on E 11th St directly out of quarters, the wrong way on a one way street. Never had a problem!
I guess when they received their new rig the job didn’t like that so they painted no parking markers at Blake Ct and E 12th Street. Making this the proscribed response route.
I guess to make their response route legal, ha.
E12th Street is very narrow and as the saying goes ‘if it ain’t broken don’t fix it’.
