Fairfield Engine 3 arriving with there state foam trailer

Just some info on the state foam trailers, there are a total of 5, the state purchased them and have them to 5 of the larger departments in the state that are in "strategic" locations across the state and are available state wide 24/365. They carry 500 gallons of 1%/3% universal gold.  the host dept responds with and operates it, New Haven, Fairfield, Norwich, Hartford and Waterbury fire depts each have one.

Recent update per news 8, 16,000 gallons of mineral oil burning from a transformer at the cross sound cable company. This is where the 25 mile cable that's under Long Island sound from Shoreham, Long Island ends/starts. Press Confrence reporting company's are standing by with foam, unknown how long it will burn for, possibly days, they are confident that no public hazard exist that there is a a structure inplace to catch any run off.

Besides the seriousness of the fire, I can't imagine the traffic nightmare with closing down I-95 in the New Haven area. That is the area where I-91, and Route 34 also meets. A normally tough spot anyway.

"BCR", you did a great job with the rundown as the other guys reported. Thank you.

I was down in Trumbull for my grandson's birthday and had to come through there on the way home.  When we went by around 2000 hrs the roads had been reopened.  Could see all the apparatus but only a slight smoke condition with no visible fire.  I guess we lucked out.

From what the news reported, I-95 was closed going both was, I-91 South was closed before the I-95 Interchange and Rt 34 was closed going toward Longwarf. I can't imagine how bad traffic was, or how far it was backed up, never mind in new haven where people were trying to go around. At some point all roads were reopened. For those that don't know the I-91/I-95 interchange is extrey busy and is poorly designed, it is currently under construction and there are several lane shifts, traffic there is usually horrible at best.
