Box 2125 was a Boro Call fire back in 1963.  Lumber yards, commercial buildings, houses with fire on numerous blocks.  Occurred on a day with a number of large brush fires in SI, a five alarm fire at Ocean and Church Avenues (Box 1543), and fires elsewhere.

WNYF 2nd issue 1963 had a picture of 280 rolling in on the job. 280 was one of the first units to arrive at the scene. What was unusual about that was 280 was normally a 5th alarm company at the box. Everybody was spread very thin that day....April 20, 1963

That is correct and the Civilian pictured was Aux Capt, Jack Mullen.280 was on the way to relocate to 283 when they were sent to the Box.

I remember the Bklyn dispatcher asking if any engine in Bklyn was available.  E 215 in Greenpoint said they were and they sent to Box 2125: Linden Blvd and Rockaway Avenue.  I have no idea how long it took them to get there.  I also remember the Capt. of E 240 saying their location was untenable and they were backing out of the street, due to the large volume of fire.

At that point in the day, 280 had already responded to the multiple at Ocean and Church Avenues, a dispatchers 5th at Dumont and Schnediker (Box 1703) and were relocating to 283 when they picked up this job
