Some work for E282s brand new rig. Also gotta love TL12 coming from Chelsea to Bulls Head and catching first due work. They don’t see PDs like this one often clearly.

Was following Engine 16 down the SIE. Got off at South Avenue. I assume they were going to 158. This was around 815.
And my old neighborhood first-due Ladder 125 zipping up Victory by Silver Lake Park just after 8. That was quite unusual and a nice ride (and some OT as well)

What does "understaffed" mean. ? What is the absolute minimum staffing before they take a company out of servuice and redistribute the FF's ?

The public will not see a difference at fires - unless there is a tragedy. They don't understand or care.

But they will notice when there is a 20 minute wait for an EMS response when Johnny has high temperature with the flu or when Grandpa has chest pain for angina or when Aunt Mary takes a fall and bruises her butt or when some idiot student ODs at a party. They will notice when they don't see an engine or truck for 15 minutes when their car has a minor accident or if garbage is burning down the block or if they get stuck in an elevator or if someone thinks they see smoke on a subway platform. With OOS companies and understaffed companies, reduced availability for minor incidents will probably have a greater impact on the public than working fires.

With each day that passes, the public will be more likely to experience delays and inconveniences in their lives and politicians will be less brazen about assuring them that everything is OK. And few will really care about anything other than their own inconvenience, or about anyone else, or about FFs, EMTs, Medics, POs and Sanit workers who take care of them, many of whom have already contracted COVID while performing their duties.
