The Pawcatuck, CT FD responded to a reported structure fire on Russell Avenue. There were conflicting reports as to where the fire was located and numerous streets were given. A column of smoke led units to 103 Russell Avenue up a long driveway with a house set back into the woods. On arrival, a working fire was declared as heavy smoke was pouring from a 2 story frame 75 x 50 dwelling. It was unoccupied at the time of the fire. The bulk of the fire was in a two car attached garage, extending into the attic. Crews made an interior attack with a line going to the second floor plus an outside line knocking down fire in the garage. One engine was special called from Westerly (RI) as well as North Stonington. A FAST team responded from Old Mystic FD. An EMS unit from Westerly (RI) and the Stonington PD responded. On arrival, the FAST team was put to work and a second FAST team was requested from the Ashaway (RI) FD. Three lines were stretched and operated along with a master stream from a tower ladder.
