Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to a reported grease fire at 115 Willow Street to find a single story brick ranch with smoke showing. The occupant had warmed up some grease on the stove top and left it unattended. He went outside and heard a popping sound and noticed that the kitchen was on fire. The house suffered smoke and heat damage throughout. Firefighters quickly placed the fire under control with no injuries reported. The fire displaced a family of three adults and three children. One toddler was evaluated for smoke inhalation on scene. There were smoke detectors present in the house but they were not operating.
