G-man question:. Tom, back in the 60s and 70s, maybe the 80s, I believe the 3 SI battalions were never all assigned to any SI multiple.  I recall you got 1 BC on the box and a second with Division 8 when the box was "transmitted" or on the "all hands" signal or 2nd alarm.  Additional BCs came from other Boris, by ferry before bridge was built.  The 3rd SI BC was left available by cover SI for other incidents.  I believe the rationale was you would always have 1 SI chief available for another SI working fire.

The policy of not assigning all 3 SI BC's to a multiple ended about 10-12 years ago. The time it took for Brooklyn BC's to arrive coupled with the handful amount of times there are multiple jobs going on led to the change. At the time the chiefs out here felt with the young job post 9-11 and young officers the benefits of having the additional chief on a box 20-30 minutes sooner far outweighed any potential negative impact.

Thank you for posting the audio. Around 6:30-6:50 you can hear a member state that he had to jump out the front window as conditions deteriorated. Hope all injured members are ok. Also TL86 was onscene somewhere.
