Fire in the cockloft of a 5 story 80x55 MD.

0516 - Bn. 17 - Give a 10-75 for box 2919.

TL-33 FAST

0519 - Bn. 17 - All Hands - We have fire in the kitchen in a 5th floor apartment. 1 L/S/O, primary searches are in progress.

0522 - Bn. 17 - We have fire in the cockloft of the B wing. Transmit the 2nd Alarm.

0532 - Div. 6 - Give a 3rd Alarm. We have 2 L/S/O, we have fire in both wings. (Staging at East 173 and Webster)

0534 - Div. 6 - Primaries on the top floor of a the B wing are negative.

0535 - Div. 6 - We are putting Tower Ladder 33 to work, please give us another FAST Truck.

TL-31 FAST

0547 - Div. 6 - Requesting 3 additional Trucks (L-38, TL-45, L-49).

0555 - Div. 6 - We have 4 L/S/O, primaries are negative in both wings on the top floor. TL-44 is set up and ready to go, TL-33 is being set up. DWH

0602 - FC - Transmit the 4th Alarm.

0617 - FC - Crews have been removed from the B wing. We have 2 Tower Ladders in operation.

0624 - FC - Special call 2 additional Battalion Chiefs (B-16, B-50 act. B-20)

0650 - FC - Special call 2 additional Trucks (L-55, L-42)

0657 - FC - We have (1) 10-45 code. 4. PWH - Duration 1 hour 47 minutes.

0715 - FC - Secondaries are negative in the A wing. Secondaries are underway in the B wing. The Tower Ladders have been shut down. We have an additional 10-45 code 4. Under Control - Duration 2 hours 4 minutes.

That was some kitchen fire - must have been cooking for hours, into the walls and up!!

That definitely sounds like a misquote, it may be that many if you count the members on all of the units that were relocated during the incident but I highly tell they were that many on scene.  On August looked back at the time of the incident and because the operations continued over a shift change that would significantly contribute to the number of members that were on scene at one time or another.

Found this video by LOUDLABS NEWS NYC on YouTube so added it here for historical purposes. Quite a cockloft fire. Can't say enough about those members working inside on the top floor with all those flames above them.

That was a good job. Lots of fire in the cockloft and a lot of pulling by the members on the top floor they had double ceilings.  The owner altered the ceiling in the top floor on the B wing has Sheetrock ceiling and then a small void then there was the original ceiling with lathe and plaster.  Then which finally have access to the buildings cockloft.  Where is was ripping.  The Bros Did an awesome job
