I never do really understand why they always have to add to an article like this by saying that they were employees of FDNY, NYPD, Disney, etc. Unless they were in uniform or on the clock they are just a civilian like the rest of us. What they do off the clock it shouldn't cast shadows on who they work for!

It does matter to civilians because they expect civil servants to be exemplary in their personal conduct so as to earn the respect they receive.Just one opinion here.

I participated in a series of Forums, resulting in a Training & Orientation Program, for all Employees for an agency I worked for regarding Off-Duty

Conduct. The Forums and Training resulted in several New Personnel Policies. The Agency was Catholic Charities.

I tend to agree with this.

There are some jobs where I think people are just expected to be held to a higher standard. I think the general public has every right to expect that of those who raise their hand and take an oath to perform their duties.

The media should spend some more ink delineating who exactly they are referring to ...if it is a FF then say so but if it is an ancillary employee of the FDNY then they should state that not make it seem automatically that it is a FF....also in many of these articles regarding misconduct what is the point of the media publishing what the persons yearly salary is ?...it is not a secret but what relevance does this have on conduct good or bad ?
