Second alarm for a hi-rise fire at 401 Second Avenue, corner of East 23 Street.

@0947: Primary searches negative, fire knocked down, secondaries in process, probably will hold.

Should be Engine 16, Ladder 7, Bn. 6 first due.

Ladder 146 relocated to Ladder 9.

@0949: Div. 1 requests buildings dept.: loose bricks on the exterior of the fire apt.

@0950: Div.1: return the air recon chief (Bn. 43).

Bn. 31 relocated to Bn. 4.

@0954: Div. 1: fire is under control, secondaries complete and negative.  Fire duration is 37 minutes.  (This was a 10-77 and second alarm).

I saw a video on Ch. 7 Eyewitness News with Engine 1 (Statue of Liberty over the cab) taking a hydrant. Looks like some auto-exposure occured, too.

Walked by the fire building on the way home, looks like fire was in the corner apartment on the 20th or 21st floor and auto-exposed to the floor above.  Seems like a good stop preventing it from getting to more floors

One BIG mistake on exchief's rundown: E14 was already at the fire as 3rd due engine on the initial box alarm so another company had to be acting E3/w High-Rise Unit on the 10-77. ::)
