D3 is just down the street across Amsterdam so if he was in quarters he could take a Segway and beat everybody in. But was D3 already operating at the A/H in Spanish Harlem?

Although the 10-75 was transmitted on this box :45 seconds prior to 1347, Box 1347 transmitted the 10-75 and All Hands simultaneously.
I believe that the Division is not technically assigned until the All Hands is transmitted.

That explains why D3 headed uptown.  Did you notice Rescue 1 redirected themselves to 1071 and didn't tell Manhattan...probably couldn't a word in with the two 10-75s and a manhole all happening at the same time.  A bit of a confused dispatcher for a brief moment but he regained his situational awareness pretty well.

A deputy (Division) responds as the chief feels necessary. I would respond not just on the transmission of a 10-75 but also by a dispatcher telling a BC that he had 3 and 2 with rescue, numerous calls. Once in the car and telling the dispatch that you were responding to the box you were no longer available for a second box. Although since I'm out since 97 things may have changed.

Today when a 10-75 is given the DV gets notified of the transmission  by phone if in qtrs & by radio if on the air.... most DCs respond on the 10-75.
