Although this is now yesterdays news there is still something to think about at an incident like this ....(i was not there nor am i critiquing anything done) .....things can rapidly go from routine to crazy step by step ....a report of a Fire turns into an injured civilian then turns into a burned civilian (so far not crazy) but then a stabbing victim is found....next thought would be now its crazy....situational awareness is paramount .....someone did this on purpose....is he satisfied w/his act? or will he persevere ?....will he attempt to further harm the victims or those helping the victim who he obviously wants hurt ?....he started a Fire because he wanted too now we are attempting to put it out ....will he attempt to stop us ? .....usually not by entering the IDLH but maybe by attempting to cut a line outside or attacking a lone ECC at the Rig down the block?.....many possibilities....can we counter them all?.....once a scene becomes non routine we have to adjust....the bystanders (usually present at any incident) now have to be focused on as a possible threat he could be among them...attention has to be focused on them & no one (the ECC or LCC or OV) should be operating alone or remote from the other Members ......as far as the victims do not turn your back (so to speak) on them either.....we probably don't know at the time if one of them was the aggressor either ....we might revive a person only to be attacked by them or the aggressor coming back to finish the job (& this has happened)....just some thoughts....as far as yesterdays incident just when the store incident was over & numerous PD were in the area all of a sudden a new issue commences the guy reappears W/a weapon & throwing a liquid on PD then shots are fired.
