Reports from people on the scene is that it goes from the road to the baseball field. At 1700 there was at least one TL operating. Also note Richmond Engine Co. 1 is there.

Does anybody have a complete rundown of this with all the relocations? I have some pictures of units responding and of the smoke cloud that I can put up on my photobucket account. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get anywhere near the scene.

I wasn't paying attention to the relocations but let's just assume all of Div 8 East relocated to Div 8 West...  ;D

I was at the fire museum so i didn't get in on this sadly....but...where was 165 on this??? It seems like an awful lot of first due units were 2nd due or later..

Thanks for posting the rundown. However, there are two things I noted. E162 was called in on the 10-75 and then again on the second alarm. Is one of those by chance supposed to be E152? They were there and arrived with E163 at approximately 16:46. Secondly, was Engine 201 a relocation? I have a shot of them going down Hylan with the lights on.

IF that is a typo on the rundown, that it would put 16 of the 18 SI companies and 9 of the 12 ladder companies on the scene with some Brooklyn stuff.

I got this rundown from exchief but it looks like E162 was not immediately available on the initial alarm as seen on the original post from rdm258. I know E152 responded with the Satellite because E159 was already out at the fire. The only relocation I witnessed was E276 acting E160. I couldn't buff this job because I was on my way to the FDNY Shops at 4PM.

Definitely not 152 with the Sat. They pulled in running spare SP9713 with 163. I hope to get my pictures up in the next day or two. Wish I had the digital body, but was still glad to have the point and shoot.

I was over by SIUH North and caught the smoke on Hylan. Headed down there and had a lot of FDNY vehicles responding. I was only able to hang out on the corner of Hylan and Buffalo for about 30 minutes (until 5 PM) since I had to get to my class at Rutgers for 6. Got pictures of pretty much all the second and third alarm companies responding. From what I gathered there was some sort of other incident on going that prevented the normal 1st dues from being there. I overheard that 162, 165, and 151 were tied up on another box (possible house fire). I think 167 and 164 were acting as 165 and 162 respectively.

Some Great information guys. Thanks for taking the time to post your remarks. And it goes to show you that the FDNY "IS" the Place to see every type of fire, and watch how the Best puts it out. Everything from Brush to those 50 or 60 story buildings. You can see it all in "The Big Apple".

Why do they call so many ladder companies for a brush fire??????

Other than Towers for water and FAST, I don't understand.  Please explain the reasoning.

I would guess extra manpower for all the other labor intensive activities

FDNY used to get Federal money for fires in the US parks.  If they still do that may be the primary reason for excessive response.

On the 4th Alarm, should of Engine 262 been assisgned with the IMT Truck?
