Any "oldtimers" remember when Engine 341 was 1st Due? ;)

If my fatigued mind has not failed me I believe that E341 was a summer unit only in Broad Channel? Firephish, to confuse you more, that area as well as the Rockaways used to be 80xx, 81xx, 82xx, and 83xx series box numbers.

Engine 341 operated on weekends and holidays with detailed personnel from the volunteer firehouse. Crossbay Blvd. used to be jammed southbound in the morning and northbound in the late afternoon. The old bridge from Broad Channel to Rockaway was a draw bridge that could go up for several minutes, adding to the problem. The closest units from the north were Engine 285 and Ladder 142. Engines 266 & 267, Ladder 121 and the 47 were just south of the bridge and a short ride under good conditions but response times could go bad very quickly on the weekends. I remember my father taking a few details to Engine 341 in the fifties.
