UPDATE: EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES NOW ADVISING NO DOAS, MOTHER IS SERIOUSLY INJURED.

Box 8218 - Location:  69th Street @ North River (Hudson River) Bulkhead Line. Originally transmitted as Box 1123 (Riverside Drive and 81St.)  Location was changed at 11:42 to Box 8218.

The dispatcher was a little confused as he called it Pier 71 and 71st interchangeably. Marine 1 questioned him on it and it was 71st street that was the correct location. This is the waterfront area opposite the Trump Apartment complex on Riverside Blvd that runs  from 66th St to 70th St.

Piece of Trivia:  To get the correct St for a NYC Pier on the Hudson River you subtract 40 from the Pier Number - for example Pier 82 is on 42nd St. Of course this doesn't work when you get down into the name streets.  I learned this over 50 years ago as a young lad in single digits from my next door neighbor who was a long shoreman who put up the gangplank with a small crane for the US Line cargo ships on Pier 74 (34th St). He use to take me down with him when the ships arrived or departed on a Saturday or Sunday. In the winter it was pretty cold on the North River as they called it

The reason why there was confusion is because it was also given to us as Pier 71. This is UCT for you. We don't talk to the callers, so we can't filter out what they are saying most of the time.

Assignment was Engs. 74, 40, L25, TL35, Battalion 11, Rescue Battalion, Safety Battalion, Tactical Support 1, Rescue 1, and Marine 1 Alpha.  They were all initially turned out to 81 st and the Riverside, then 71 st and the river, then Pier 71 before they were finally able to confirm it as 71 st.  PD Harbor was already there and pulled one out, Marine 1A pulled the other.
