No idea....I Wonder how it works...

Did they go with packs & tools?

Did they wait till 176 got there and grabbed tools off their truck?

I have no idea

If a company is OOS mechanical and don’t have a rig they cannot be considered as a legit company.

No apparatus or full compliment of tools .

A Chief's worst nightmare. A truck doing B.I. on the engine and the first due truck arriving on the scene staffed by the engine.

Very dangerous situation having a company who is not assigned running around a fire building.
No accountability in an emergency.

That’s the way it used to be when I got on. MPO + 4 truck members, except when it’s a tiller rig, then it was 3 truckie’s on engine with truck officer.
Used to cross train at drill with engines & trucks. I guess the job felt smaller rig out on streets safer back then.🤷‍♂️

Back in the 80's 38 Truck was OOS in quarters for a mechanical issue. A box came in across the park in the Pelham Pkwy area in 38's second due area, at that time. The officer of 38 and 4 members, chauffer stayed back for the mechanic, threw the saw, tools and packs on the hose bed of 88 Engine and took in the box. The Batt Chief took pleasure in seeing the members get off the back step and report in for fire duty. I believe the fire was a top floor job and was a FDNY magazine, WNYF, story.

Just reminiscing
