Location: Verrazano Bridge - at the Brooklyn Anchorage

Injured worker on the bridge, fall from the upper platform.

1206 - Marine 9 - Can you send us a ticket for the Verrazano Bridge, Brooklyn side, for a worker in distress.

1214 - E-161 - We are almost in to Brooklyn on the upper level at the Brooklyn anchorage. We need units on the lower level to access the victim.

1216 - R-5 - Have the TBTA close the lower level, Brooklyn Bound.

1220 - Bn. 21 - We don't need additional units, you can return the Marine companies. We are just awaiting EMS.

1231 - Bn. 21 - All Hands - Under Control - Worker is with EMS. No additional units needed.

As I drive over every day I notice the construction being done on the bridge. Not much protection as the workers constantly walk along the edge of the span. Prayers for the worker as the fall could be up to 200ft depending where he fell from. He fell from upper to lower level about 25 ft.

Multiple calls were received reporting an unconscious worker on the VN Bridge. Patient fell approx. 25 feet from upper level onto an electrical conduit on the lower level. Once fence was cut to reach patient, FFs from E242/TL77 made harness out of webbing to bring patient up and onto a stretcher. Confined space did not allow for a stokes basket to be used. Patient was transported to SIUH in critical condition. - Explains Lt. from Rescue 5.

Does anyone know what the riding positions are in Rescue Companies and how members are assigned?  Are certain members on each tour assigned as Water Rescue, High Angle Rescue etc, etc?
