At approximately 0220 hours, the Pawcatuck FD was dispatched to a structure fire at 6 Washington Street. Prior to FD arrival, Stonington PD reported a heavily involved structure fire. A full response was sent for Pawcatuck. Subsequently, two engines and a ladder from Westerly (RI) were called to the scene. Heavy fire was in the walls on the second and third floors of a 3story wood frame dwelling. At one point, there was fire through the roof. A combination of interior and exterior streams eventually extinguished the fire. Another call in the area was covered by Wequetequock FD; on completion, they stood by at Pawcatuck FD for station coverage.
