“This morning at approximately 8:03 we received a call for workers stuck on scaffolding on the 42nd floor. Rescue 1 and Squad 18 responded and made their way up to the 42nd floor where they found two workers that were stuck on an off-level scaffold. Members also made their way to the roof to check the lines and the motors. Eventually they were able to cut the glass and remove the workers into the building. It was a smooth operation, members worked efficiently. We were also able to have aerial footage so we can observe the operation from above” said FDNY Battalion Chief Robert Meuser of Battalion 8 on this morning’s scaffolding rescue at 712 5th Avenue in Manhattan. The photo was taken by the FDNY Robotics Unit. The unit deployed one of its drones to provide the incident commander 42 stories below on the street a critical vantage point for the rescue operation.
